Welcome to SCS!

Regular meetings of the Board are held the fourth Monday of each month. Upcoming meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. on site at the school (385 S. Spring Street)

Persons wishing to speak to the Board must register by phone or in person on the day of the regular meeting. Registration is open all day by telephone at 621-3882 and on location at the school between 6:00 and 6:20 PM. The opportunity to address the Board at each regular Board Meeting is 30 minutes at the beginning of the meeting.

Each speaker has up to five minutes, subject to change due to number who wish to speak. Speakers may not ask questions of Board Members. Board Members may not engage speakers in discussion. Disruptive behavior is not permitted. Personal attacks aimed at students or staff are not permitted. Scurrilous, obscene, or recklessly defamatory language aimed at anyone is not permitted.

The Spartanburg Charter School Board will follow up on all matters that speakers present.

Environmental Education

SCS believes that quality of life depends upon humans’ ability to live in harmony with the physical environment. SCS will provide experiences integrated into the curriculum that lead its students to develop knowledge, skills and positive attitudes that lead to balanced use of natural resources and recognize the concurrent rights of present and future generations.

The goals of SCS environmental education are to:

• Foster clear awareness of and concern about economic, social, political and ecological interdependence among our own urban, suburban, and rural areas as well as among countries and the world as a whole

• Provide every student with opportunities to acquire the knowledge, values, attitudes, commitment and skills needed to protect and improve the environment

• Create new patterns of behavior of individuals, groups and society as a whole towards protecting and preserving the environment

SCS is currently accepting any and all private donations, and we are particularly interested in donations to the Founders Fund to support building renovations.
